Company Story

Simms Services started because Jay Patel kept meeting the same gap on job after job. Cleaners would arrive, do the inside of a building well, and leave the roof, the gutters, the driveway and the grounds untouched. Gardening firms would do the reverse. Property owners were left managing two or three contractors for what was really one property, and the jobs nobody clearly owned were the ones that quietly went undone. Jay built the business around covering both, and over five years it has grown from that single idea into eighteen services spanning builder cleans, commercial and strata contracts, domestic cleaning, exterior washing and grounds maintenance across Adelaide's northern suburbs. The work has come almost entirely through repeat clients and referral.

Jay Patel runs Simms Services from Parafield Gardens and still works on the tools, which is deliberate rather than a matter of scale. The person who measures your job and puts the number in writing is the person who is accountable for how it is done, and there is nobody in between to pass a complaint along to. Five years in the trade means Jay has spent a great deal of time working alongside builders and site supervisors, and that shows in how the handover work is sequenced. It also means he is comfortable telling a customer that a stain is permanent, that a roof needs restoration rather than cleaning, or that a job does not need doing yet. Overselling in the suburbs where you live is a short-lived business model.

A cleaner who knows your property works faster, knows which surfaces need care and notices when something has changed, so the same hours buy a noticeably better result after a few visits. Everyone is trained by Jay to the same method, which is why the sequence on a handover clean or the chemistry on a stained driveway does not change depending on who turns up. When someone is on leave or unwell, a briefed replacement attends and works from the same written scope, and you are told in advance rather than left to work it out. Consistency is one of the main reasons clients stay.

The equipment is commercial rather than domestic: rotary surface cleaners, hot-water extraction units, water-fed pole systems for glass and gutters above ladder height, mechanical floor scrubbers for large sealed floors, and a full chemistry range rather than one general purpose product. That last point matters more than it sounds, because matching an alkaline degreaser to oil, an acidic treatment to rust and a biological treatment to lichen is what separates a result from a wet surface. On commercial and industrial sites we complete inductions and work to written safe work method statements. We hold keys and alarm codes on a documented register, and we contain wash water rather than sending it to a stormwater grate.
